life.

my dad brought me three old "Life" magazines that a customer gave him this week. One is a 1968 retrospective (the year!), a 1963 issue from March of that year, and the magazine commemorating man's first walk on the moon. the articles are interesting, yes, but the advertisements are even better. American studies nerd, ahoy! If you didn't take Fran Ryan's AMST 100 at La Salle, you should know that advertisements are a fascinating way to study the values of the American people at a given time in our history. The messages they spell out about the ideals of women, men, and society at large are just amazing.

i love historical stuff like this.

i'm peachy.
