so, this past weekend was my long awaited first trip to philadelphia for the summer of 2006. here is the adventure.
saturday: nik shah picked me up, and we were off about 1pm. it was quite a lovely trip, and we stopped for drinks on the way down. he dropped me at 30th street, where i would have an adventure in regional rail. the time online was not the time at the station, so i spent some time being minorly confused, since when i asked for "the 4:33 to trenton" she didn't correct me. there was no 4:33 to trenton! it was at 4:09. so, i left for trenton from there. trenton's train station is terrible. they are remodeling it, but the things that are terrible have nothing to do with the remodeling. there's no where to wait and it's gross and too small. finally, jess and her dad were able to "rescue" me, as i put it. the weirdos had come out to play at the station and i just wanted out. it re-affirms that harrisburg is a great capital city. jess and i got to the dance recital and went down to visit val, who earlier in the day had had her face stepped on by another girl. she is quite a trooper, and very nice. i enjoyed her. the dance recital was ok too...her dances were fantastic! she had a solo which was amazing, and another dance where it was ac copella and in the dark for parts and they had lights on their helmets (like mine workers) and part of the dance involved moving their heads at certain times. with the recital over, we booked it out of there. to manayunk! but first, food. jess and i had a lovely dinner from wendy's...in the parking lot. so much momma / baby bonding! we went to a party that one of jess' villanova friends was throwing and i got to meet a bunch of her grad school chums, all of whom were amazingly nice to the little la salle undergrad.
sunday: we woke up and got ready to go to the bike race (an annual event, i'm told). it shuts down the streets of manayunk, so it's walking only, which is totally fine. we got pizza and ice cream (ben and jerry's!) and later walked to the manayunk diner (our nature adventure, or our possible opening for law and order: manayunk). we also decided we were tired from watching other people exert themselves, so we watched the race on tv and also watched two episodes of "bridezilla" on we...womens entertainment tv. nik came and got me from there and we went home, first stopping for food, drink, and cinnabons. mmm.
that's really it. my week now consists of work, work, and more work. sarah also has her last recital this weekend. she's quitting dance, so she's done after saturday. sigh.
i'm peachy!

Yay thank you for writing about this. I was going to ask you on AIM but then you'd just have to type it twice!
